Jack's
mom
On October 24, 2004, Jack was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy.
Jack spent two months at Children’s Hospital Boston. The cause of his
condition is unknown. On October 28, 2004, a cardiac catheterization
was performed to remove some fluid around his heart and to biopsy his
heart. This helped him survive, however, it was not enough to make
him feel better. On December 6, 2004 Jack had a biventricular pace-
maker placed to help with the function of his heart. He was able to go
home on December 24, 2004 with the help of medications and his pacemaker.
As of today, Jack is a healthy, vibrant 3 ½ year old child. His heart is back to normal size and function with the help of medication and his pacemaker. Jack is a very happy and active child. The doctors at Children’s are amazed by him! There was a time when the doctors didn’t think he was going to make it. He is a miracle to us and he lights up our life. To see him play with his older brother brings such happiness to us. We will always be grateful for the doctors at Children’s Hospital Boston. They saved his life.
